Excited!

Love my coffee, and love espresso and cappuccino and it looks like I will be able to get my barista on. Fist impressions, budget machine but has all that I need to start the journey. Well packaged to protect the machine. Clean lines, easy set up, directions a little fuzzy when it comes to brewing. All information I have says to upgrade to a bottomless portafilter and grind your own beans (which I do everyday for my French Press anyway). What I like:Small and unobtrusive.Everything fires up, coffee, steamer etc. with no issues.Quieter that I thought.A floating red indicator to let you know the drip pan is full and needs dumping and a poker to unclog the milk steamer (although the location is odd, see picture). Was a little stiff in the beginning, turning the whole machine trying to lock the portafilter into position. Got better by coffee #3.What I need to get better:Dialing in the pressure. Until I get a hand grinder I am relying on pre ground which I think is a little to fine as the pressure it high.Barista's make that milk foam art look easy and I thought I would nail it. Hey, I can pour a shamrock in a Guinness but guess I am not there yet.No information on the size of the portafilter used for this machine or how to measure it. Not in paperwork or elsewhere (needed to order portafilter upgrade)Brewing instructions are not very clear, note the picture that describes the "pre-soaking" but neglects to explain the how, just one example. You Tube is where I'm looking for answers. My home barista career won't be the first job I have trained myself for, but it looks like it may be the tastiest. I will update as the journey continues.Update #1:Enjoying the journey, but you should add a little to the budget as you will want to add toys to your toy. Tamper, bottomless portafilter, coffee grinder, WTD etc. I have been collecting.Note: I did order a 51mm bottomless portafilter for this machine thinking that I just needed to make sure it had 3 "ears" as opposed to 2. What I learned is that you need to know how wide those ears are because the one I got did not fit with the ears being too thick. On that note, the website you can link to for this company does not feature this machine currently. It is more expensive than the two they do feature, so maybe it is a new model and the website hasn't been brought up to speed and there is no recommendation for aftermarket upgrades or even measurements to look for with other options. In looking for similar machines there are a number that look like clones with tiny differences of the same thing so I found some after market options for those and I have another portafilter on the way with 4mm ears (thickness) according to my micrometer / caliper which match what the original filter measured. Another thing to note is that once you remove the small wire poker used to clear the steamer nozzle from where it is located, you will never get it back it. The rubber seals up behind it and my efforts were a waste of time. I am keeping it in the drip pan so it stays with the machine and is easy to find, just may need a little cleaning.

Beautiful little machine

Heats up very quickly. Lots of pressure. Far better for steaming than I originally expected. Good creama.Very attractive, but materials seem a little bit cheap.

Cheap espresso machine with steam wand

Love the low profile shape of this cute espresso machine! The quality of materials just didn’t quite do it for me. The finish is all plastic and pretty light weight. Even the portafilter is light feeling. Overall easy to set up out of box. Steam wand does an ok job. If you are starting out your coffee bar at home and want to play around this wouldn't be a bad start!

Impressive little machine!

I decided to try this because I've gotten into the habit of drinking espresso at work. I don't have an espresso machine at my house and I didn't feel like going out and buying everytime i work from home with my hybrid schedule. so of course next best thing would be to get your own.I went with this because it's small and wouldn't take up a ton of room in my small kitchen. The look is very nice, slim and sleek.Using this can be a little vague Especially if you've never made it yourself before. luckily I have a friend who is a barista so I asked them just the quick basics on how it should work. I know nothing about how fine it should be pressure, etc. After my crash course I was able to determine what worked best and then everything made sense. I highly recommend talking to a friend who's familiar or a quick online tutorial about the basics. It will just make use easier and more satisfying. It works well, it does feel a little bit more on the cheaper side, but I think this is a pretty solid machine that works very well! I'll update if anything changes as time goes on!
