Solid Espresso Tool — Love the All-in-One Design

I’ve been using this tamper/WDT combo for a couple weeks now, and I gotta say, it’s become one of my favorite tools on the coffee bar.First off, I really like the all-in-one setup. The WDT tool sticks magnetically to the top of the tamper, so it’s always within reach and I’m not constantly digging through drawers or knocking tools off the counter. Super convenient. The tamper itself feels nice and sturdy—heavier than I expected (in a good way). The spring-loaded mechanism is a great touch, especially if you’re still dialing in your technique. It gives a really consistent tamp each time, somewhere around 15–30 pounds, which helps keep my shots pretty uniform. And the ripple base seems to help with better water flow—I’ve been noticing smoother, more balanced shots lately. One heads-up: make sure you order the right size. I got the 58.35mm for my Breville portafilter and it fits perfectly snug. Anything smaller would’ve been too loose. If I had to nitpick, the spring tension might feel a bit light for folks who like a really firm tamp. And the ripple base may not be everyone’s cup of... well, espresso. Some people might prefer a flat base, but honestly, I’ve been happy with the results.Overall, for the price, this thing punches way above its weight. If you want something that looks clean, feels solid, and saves counter space, I’d definitely recommend giving this a shot.

Tamper and WDT Combo Tool

A two-in-one tool, this tamper and WDT combined is convenient if you are short on space. I found the WDT needles short for the size of the portafilter. Longer needles would have helped break up the coffee clumps. The tamper was nice and heavy. This is specifically for 54mm baskets so Breville and other manufacturers that use the smaller size. Overall, tamper is good, WDT needles could be longer.

Clever Design, Wrong Size

The built-in WDT tool design looks clever. Having both functions in one tool could really streamline the espresso routine.Unfortunately, they sent me a 53mm instead of the 51mm I needed. The tamper doesn't fit my portafilter properly, so I can't actually test how well the spring mechanism works or whether the WDT needles are effective. From what I can see, the build quality looks solid and the integration of the WDT tool into the tamper handle seems well thought out. But without being able to use it with my machine, I can't tell you if it actually delivers on the concept.Since this came through Amazon Vine and returns aren't allowed, I'm stuck with a tamper I can't use. Always double-check the size before ordering - this kind of mistake makes the whole thing useless no matter how good the design might be.Can't really recommend or not recommend something I haven't been able to properly test.

Beauty and Function

I am one of those people that just can’t get a hang of using an espresso tamper properly. It always comes off uneven, thicker on one side, thin on the other. I’m tickled pink by the instructions that say to apply 20-30 pounds of pressure, like I have a robotic arm and can just set the pressure at a touch of a button.I had totally given up and used a jack leveler instead of tamping. It worked fine, but I find the jack leveler gets bits of coffee stuck to it, so I always lose a couple of grams of coffee to the leveling process, plus it creates a big mess. So, I decided to try this spring loaded tamper. This one is top quality. Beautiful as well as functional. I thought the built it distribution tool looked gimmicky, but no, it’s great. It’s magnetic, snaps right back into place, and works very well.It comes nicely packaged and would also make a great gift for the espresso lover in your family.Very happy with this tamper.
